Snicker Snackers

We learned how to make these raw energy bites in a Goodness Me! whole food cooking class. I still have a hard time believing they're good for you. Usually anything I get cravings for is unhealthy, but I find myself wanting these things all. the. time. They're right up there with chocolate. Charity fondly calls them "Timbits" (you might have to be Canadian to get that).

If you've committed to eating healthy (good for you!), Snicker Snackers are a guilt-free indulgence for when the urge to eat something rich is just too strong.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup seasame seeds
  • 1/2 cup raw honey
  • 1/2 cup almond butter
  • 1/2 cup cocoa or carob powder
  • 1/4 cup ground flax
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut

Directions:

Combine ingredients in blender. Roll into small balls (refrigerate mixture for 1/2 an hour if it's too soft). Store in an air-tight container and keep refrigerated.

  2. This sound Yummy but we don't have any almond butter, would natural peanut butter work in this recipe?

  3. I make something similar - I actually posted the recipe yesterday: http://behealthybehappywellness.com/blog/2012/05/tuesday-tip-make-your-own-snacks but I use peanut butter and don't include the seeds or flax - I might have to add them in and give it a try - sounds delicious!!!

  9. Tried them tonight, tasty, but was way to thick for my blender. I ended up using a hand mixer and that worked well for me. Will try again and maybe add a smidge more honey or maybe coconut soy milk!

  10. Just made them....way to thick for my blender as well. I dumped it all in a bowl and hand mixed. The only thing I added in addition to the other ingredients was kosher salt....sprinkled it on once I rolled them in balls. Oh, and I used toasted wheat germ instead of the ground flax. They are yummy. Thanks for the recipe!

  13. These are excellent! :) I saw on another website that they are about 70cal each. So I say that 2 of these with a serving of low fat yogurt makes a great snack!
